British Designer Creates $15 Million Black Diamond iPhone 5
There are several companies out there who can build incredibly expensive mobile phones for incredibly rich people. One of the names that spring to mind is Vertu. Vertu is a company that makes some very expensive mobile phones that use precious metals such as gold and platinum as well as diamonds and other gemstones to create customized and very expensive mobile phones.
British luxury designer Stuart Hughes has created a £10 million (about $15 million), solid-gold bodied, diamond-encrusted iPhone 5.
“Joe”, a businessman from Hong Kong, commissioned Hughes to do the job. The phone, which underneath its special shell, is no different from any iPhone in terms of hardware components.
After crafting a solid gold chassis, Hughes then added 600 flawless white diamonds set in gold on the back panel, while the Apple logo, now in solid gold takes on a three-dimensional quality and has also been enhanced by the addition of a further 53 diamonds and reserved the Home button to be adorned with the 26-carat black diamond.
That massive black diamond has reportedly been in the business man’s family for generations.
