CCCI, Mynimo.com to Hold ‘Happy’ Jobs Fair at SM City Cebu
Mynimo.com in partnership with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (CCCI) will hold the Happy jobs Fair at SM City Cebu Trade Hall on May 31, 2014, from 10 am to 6 pm.
As the first official activity of Cebu Business Month, CCCI is proud to announce a job fair that would make everyone “happy” and promote Cebu’s employment rate.
According to Wesley Chiongbian, Mynimo.com’s Founder and CEO, they call this job fair a “happy” one because it would provide job seekers easier time in finding the right jobs with its categorized job board. Also, it would benefit the employers because it would give them a faster way of screening applicants through a color coding scheme, which is new from a usual job fairs.
This color coding scheme is based on the level of experience of the applicants; OJT applicants: pink sticker, fresh graduates/entry level: orange sticker, those with 1 to 4 years of experience: green sticker, those with 5 years of experience and above: yellow sticker, managerial level: blue sticker and top management applicants: purple sticker.
“Job fairs can be stressful for both job seekers and employers, so we came up with these methods to make it a more pleasant and happy experience,” Chiongbian said.
Officially announced during its press conference last May 21, 2014, “happy Jobs fair” is glad to provide 6, 326 positions in various companies as of May 21. Based on their running record, a large number of the job vacancies are for abroad, mostly from the Skilled Work/technical category.
As of May 21, 2014, the top 3 categories in number of job vacancies is 1) from the BPO/ Call Center Industry category with 3, 034 vacancies, followed by 2) Skilled Work/Technical category with 1915 vacancies, and 3) Sales/Marketing/ Retail category with 579 vacancies.
With a huge increase in hiring rate this year (from 25% last year to 60% this year), Chiongbian believes that Cebu is “picking up very fast” in terms of its economic performance.
Thus, with this rate and these number of job vacancies, Mynimo.com and CCCI are anticipating many “happy” applicants and employers during the event.
Job Fair Chairperson Chito Recamadas said what job applicants have to do is to simply prepare.
“Research the company you want to work with, be pleasant during the interview, and at least, practice introducing yourself in front of a friend or a mirror,” Recamadas said.
CCCI has partnered with Mynimo.com this year because they want “to showcase a Cebuano company”. As what the CCCI carries this year— “strengthening Cebu’s position in order to take advantage of the opportunities to be opened by the ASEAN economic Integration in 2015,” CCCI is just putting its words to action.
