Business-related conflict could be one of the motives for the killing of Korean couple and their daughter inside a restaurant at Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City on Thursday.

Police said that their son-in-law had a heated argument with the victims before the gruesome incident. Police also received initial information that the family were heard to have a quarrel over business, as it was known that the restaurant was not earning.

The victims owned the restaurant.

Last night, the bodies of Korean couple and their daughter were found inside their own restaurant with stab wounds in different parts of their bodies. Police saw the bodies inside the padlocked Han Ga Wi Korean restaurant when they responded to the crime scene at Sitio Bagong Bayan Dos in Barangay Maribago.

Homicide investigators later identified the victims as Ho An, his wife Kim Soonok, and their daughter Young Mi An, the owner of the restaurant.

Kim Se Wong, the husband of Young Mi An, was wounded when police operatives found him hiding in one of the rooms in the restaurant, which is also the resident of the victims.

Suspect

Police said Wong could be the suspect in the killing of his in-laws and his wife following a report that he has engaged in a quarrel with the victims before the incident.

Wong was rushed to a hospital in Cebu City by the police because of the injuries on his wrists and was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he was found.

As of this writing, police said they could not determine yet if Wong’s wounds were self-inflicted.

Authorities also found destroyed chairs and tables scattered inside the restaurant as a first hint of a commotion before the killing.

The incident was discovered after a woman-friend of the victims arrived at the restaurant to look for them, as the victims are not answering her calls. She asked the security guard to help her as the front door was locked. When she manage to get inside through the back door, she was shocked to see the victims sprawled on the floor.

Commotion

The previous guard on duty recorded on his logbook that at past 2 a.m. Thursday, he heard a commotion and a woman screaming inside the restaurant, but he cannot go inside.

The association of South Korean nationals in Cebu had asked the police to look further into the incident.
