Care Group Health Expo Gives Free Medical Ops, Lectures

The Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church, in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH)7 launched on Sunday its annual medical outreach program “Care Group Health Expo” at East Visayan Academy, Cebu.

The annual event which promotes holistic and healthy lifestyle also offered a variety of free medical operations and screening tests that include minor surgery operation, circumcision operation, dental test, optical test, ECG test, body fat analysis, blood typing, glucose test, pap smear test and some physical assessments.

In just three hours, the area was already filled with over 800 people who wished to avail the free medical check-ups and prescription medicines.

Aside from this, a five-minute discussions were also conducted, mostly highlighting the acronym CELEBRATIONS, which stands for: Choices, Environment, Liquid, Exercise, Belief, Rest, Air, Temperance, Integrity, Optimism, Nutrition, Social Support. According to the organizers, these were intended to help people avoid illnesses and diseases and appreciate the greatness of life and good health.

Rhoie Allan Yncierto, Care Group Health Expo promotion and marketing in-charge, said what is new with this year’s Care Group Health Expo is its partnership with Kuvings Slow and Silent juicer. This product is a slow speed vegetable and fruit juicer that fosters the efficient use of extracting vegetables and fruits, getting its full nutrients for a more nutritious health drink.

Aside from offering a healthy product, Kuvings is also giving a 10% discount on the product to all attendees. Yncierto said this partnership happened simply because they have the same advocacy, which is promoting organic produce. Both believe that eating fruits and vegetables is the best way to a better and healthier lifestyle.

The event started with a Fun Run at 5:30 am on Sunday. The run was participated by more than 100 people. After the fun run, around 200 people sweat out the zumba dance, an aerobic and resistance training exercise.

Right outside the area of the medical mission, participants can avail affordable organic fruits and vegetables.

Care Group Health Expo is a two-day event that caters the health needs of the people by giving free health check-ups, medications and lectures on healthcare.
