Talisay Eyes to Have its Own Medical Laboratory
●Mayor pledges facility during election campaign
●Facility to house ultra-sound and mammography machine, equipment for dialysis, blood count, and urinalysis
Soon the indigent residents of Talisay City will no longer have to pay for medical laboratory services as the city government is planning to set up its own facility in Barangay Lagtang.
De los Reyes said the facility was one of his promised projects in his campaign during the last elections. He added the indigents’ constant request for medical assistance for their laboratory needs prompted him to materialize it as soon as possible.
Yesterday de los Reyes personally saw through that a mother who gave birth to triplets last week would be given medical care at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
The planned medical lab is said to be constructed near the rural health unit in Barangay Lagtang.
De los Reyes said that apart from the ultra-sound machine, the facility will also house a mammography machine, at least two equipment for dialysis, and other services like complete blood count, urinalysis and others.
De los Reyes said the project will complement the city’s pharmacy at the City Hall.
The neophyte mayor said there are still thousands of Talisaynons who belong to the marginalized sector, and proof of which, he said, is the constant stream of individuals who go to his house to ask for rice, medical assistance and others after office hours.
He said that while the City Hall are still looking for ways to address the problems on poverty, his administration is implementing pro-poor projects to improve the living conditions of the people in that sector.
