The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-7 reminds the local government units (LGUs) in Northern Cebu to comply with their complete requirements for the Cash-for-Work program (CFW) and Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA).

An LGU needs to submit documents such as their project proposal, list of beneficiaries, memorandum of agreement (MOA), rehabilitation plan, terminal report, liquidation documents of their previous cash advances and Sangguniang Bayan resolution.

Among all the municipalities in Northern Cebu, three towns have already received their CFW namely Liloan (Php 1.226 million), Catmon (Php 1.842 million), and Bantayan (Php 5.287 million) which was formally turned over by President Benigno Aquino III during his visit to the island town last February 25, 2014.

The CFW Program provides cash to the families affected by disaster in exchange for their services and participation in the rehabilitation efforts in the disaster-affected communities.

Under the program, the beneficiaries can work for 15 days and will get the minimum wage by clearing the debris, doing repair works, planting trees and mangroves, restoring some facilities and other infrastructure rehabilitation works.

Meanwhile, DSWD’s Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) Program provides either financial or shelter materials for the repair of houses that were either totally or partially destroyed by Typhoon Yolanda, which badly affect the said town in November last year.

Currently, DSWD is now processing the assistance for those LGU’s who have completed and submitted the required documents. These are the towns of Tabuelan, Tuburan, Sogod, San Remegio, Daanbantayan, Tudela, Poro, San Francisco and the City of Bogo.

Both programs are part of the DSWD’s early recovery efforts to bring back the lives of the affected families to normalcy.

Aside from the two programs, DSWD-7 under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) is also providing livelihood assistance to the survivors of the recent disasters. Based on the chosen business, each beneficiary can avail with a maximum amount of Php 10,000.00.
