Sunny to Partly Cloudy Thursday as LPA Dissipates
Most parts of the country will have sunny to partly cloudy skies in the next two to three day as the easterlies will be the dominant weather system to affect the country, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.
In an interview, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Chris Perez said that the low pressure area in Northern Samar has dissipated. Perez said the easterlies affecting Luzon and Visayas will formlocalized thunderstorms.
He further noted that no tropical cyclone is expected to affect the country within the next two to three days.
He said that other parts of Luzon including Metro Manila may experience hotter days due to the easterlies and will be the dominant weather system in the country.
He added that temperatures could climb up to 37 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
Perez said to avoid heat exhaustion, people should stay indoors as much as possible from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
He also advised the public to wear clothing made of light materials and light colors, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and to avoid eating food high in protein, which can increase body heat.
Metro Manila’s temperature may range from 24 to 35 degrees Celsius on Thursday, he added.
Wednesday temperatures in Metro Manila rose to a high of 34.3 degrees Celsius at 1:50 p.m., and was coolest at 2 a.m. at 24.9 degrees.
He also said that the hottest temperature that was recorded in Metro Manila so far this year was 35.7 degrees Celsius last March 28.
On Wednesday, the highest temperature was recorded at 37.8 degrees Celsius in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija followed by Tuguegarao, Cagayan with 36.5 then 35.6 in NAIA while 34 in Dagupan City in Pangasinan and 33 in Subic, Zambales.

In the Mindanao area, General Santos City with 35.5 degrees Celsius followed by Davao at 33.8 degrees Celsius and Surigao had 33.
In its advisory, PAGASA said that the whole country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
It added that light to moderate winds blowing from the east will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas and coming from the east to northeast over Mindanao.
The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. (PNA) FPV/CLTC
