DSWD-7 Conducts “listahan” Seminar in Alegria
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) has oriented key officials and staff of the Municipality of Alegria, Cebu on the data utilization of database of the poor known as ” Listahanan:Talaan ng Pamilyang Nangangailangan”.
Held in Batong Malunhaw, Barangay Madridejos, the orientation was part of the DSWD’s continuing efforts in promoting and advocating the use of Listahanan.
Social Worker Artemia Degamo said the Listahanan is the first of its kind in the Philippines. It gives a face and a name of the poor household.
“This information management system provides data on socio-economic profile of poor households that present their living conditions,” Degamo explained.
During the first round of household assessment in 2009, DSWD identified 2,287 poor households out of the 4,722 households assessed in Alegria.
Of the nine barangays of the town, Barangay Montpeller has the highest number of poor households who used light materials for their roofing and walling.
“These poor households are vulnerable and at risk to natural disasters like typhoons, hence, we encourage our stakeholders like LGUs and NGOs to make use of our Listahanan data to be their basis in identifying prospective beneficiaries and to formulate appropriate social protection programs and services,” Degamo said.
Mayor Verna Magallon attended the two-day activity and expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the social welfare agency support in implementing the various programs like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino, the Supplemental Feeding Program and the Social Pension for Senior Citizens.
She also asked the technical team to help them facilitate in the input of statistics to be incorporated in their Municipal Profile and Comprehensive Land Use Program (CLUP).
Mayor Magallon further said she will support the upcoming second round of household assessment.
Series of LGU orientation will also be conducted to various cities and towns in the region.
