The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the National Youth Commission calls youth leaders in Central Visayas region to take part in the Parliament of Youth Leaders, also known as the National Youth Parliament (NYP).

Now on its 10th year, NYP makes another milestone once again as it continues to empower youth by actively engaging them in a simulated legislative process where they will present, discuss and propose resolutions to pressing issues that affects them.

The NYP is set to be held in Metro Manila on May 15-18, 2014, where a total of 200 youth leaders from all over the country will experience plenary debates, and discussions aimed at coming up with policy recommendations that are later on endorsed and lobbied to concerned national government agencies.

During the 9th NYP held in Naga City, Camarines Sur in 2012, 25 resolutions were adopted and approved by the delegates.

Some of these resolutions eventually became the foundation of some NYC advocacies like the Students’ Rights and Welfare Bill and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Reform Bill.

NYP is open to Filipino citizen, must be 15-30 years old on the day of the Parliament, must not have been a previous NYP delegate and must be willing to shoulder his/her traveling expenses.

Interested applicants may download the guidelines and form via the official website of NYP at www.nyc.gov.ph and its official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/10thNYP.

Deadline of application is on March 21, 2014.
