Labor Leader’s Son Killed

An unidentified gunman shot and killed the son of a national labor union leader after he entered the victim’s apartment along Barangay Sambag II in Cebu City pretending to rent a unit.

The man, carrying a backpack, looked for Richard Seno, the 51-year old son of Lawyer Cecilio T. Seno, national vice president of the Associated Labor Unions-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP).

The younger Seno, the one who managed the family’s apartment, even accompanied the man inside the facility to show him the vacant units, but the man quickly shot the victim from behind hitting on his nape.

The victim’s father, the president of Vimcontu Broadcasting Corporation which operates Radio Station DYLA, said his son does not have enemies.

“Wala g’yud ko’y nahibaw-an nga dunay kaaway ang akong anak,” said the labor union official.

Police investigator Lou Pagara said the victim might thought that the man was really interested to rent a unit that even prompted him to guide the assailant towards the third floor of the apartment building where the vacant units are located.

Witnesses said the gunman fled on board a waiting motorcycle that was parked a few meters away from the apartment’s gate, but there were Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras that might help the police identify the assailants.
