‘Suroy-Suroy Sugbo” Kicks off with Less Expenses
The first Suroy-Suroy Sugbo kicked off last Wednesday with less expenses, as promised by Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale.
“During the exit conference with COA, giingnan ta dako ra kaayo ang nagasto, mahal ra kaayo ang food, etc. It was because the previous administration did not mind the expenses, even invited non-paying guests,” Magpale said referring to former Governor Gwen Garcia.
“So now we have to keep our expenses at a minimum,” she added.
For this month’s three-day tour at the southern part of Cebu, the package rates ranges from 7,000 to P14,000 (package varies depending on room accommodation) from P3,000-P4,000 during Garcia’s time.
Magpale said the increase will not give the Capitol profit, not even a break-even, but at least they have less expenses.
One of the participants, Chit Samonte, 68, said it was her second time to join the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo, although she enjoyed it this time because of the longer stop-overs, she still longed for more mouth-watering food in Gwen’s time. “Kada lugar naay lechon. Nindot to kay naa man gud pirmi si Gwen,” she said.
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III had only joined the convoy on its way to Carcar City but went back to his office for work. It was only his wife, Jobel, who continued the rest of the tour.
