TD Agaton Brings Blackout in Dinagat; Death Toll Now 37
The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) said the entire province of Dinagat Islands was experiencing a total blackout on Friday
due to heavy rains and strong winds, while the death toll reached 37 since last week.
In Butuan City, forty six barangays had been affected by flooding while some 3,410 families were displaced and brought to evacuation centers and 1,470 more families have yet to be evacuated, said Butuan City’s City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The NDRRMC, in its 7 pm update, said 65 were reported injured while seven are still missing.
The Disaster Council added Agaton has caused P255,751,950.15 in damage, including P101,043,750 in infrastructure and P154,708,200.15 for agriculture in Regions 10, 11 and Caraga.
Reports said there are around 101,720 families or 486,213 people in 498 villages in 73 towns in 14 provinces in Regions 10, 11 and Caraga, where 48,842 families or 234,552 people were displaced and are currently in 410 evacuation centers.
At least 52 roads and 21 bridges remained impassable in Regions 9, 10, 11 and Caraga report said adding at
least 670 houses were destroyed while 918 were damaged.
Fourteen bridges, 44 roads and eight public infrastructure were also damaged, report said.
