The Police Regional Office 7(PRO 7) on Wednesday revealed the big increase of various crimes in the region last year reaching a total of 67,234, yet few cases have been filed in courts.

These include both index and non-index crimes.

Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division chief Sr. Supt. Armando Radoc has lamented the fact that among these crime volume, only a total of 18.8 per cent were charged in courts.

According to Radoc, “we have an honest to goodness reporting of the crime volume in the region last year” but this is just normal. Radoc also attributed the honest recording of crimes that were happening in all barangays in the region, hence the crime volume was so significant last year.

Radoc said that this increase has forced the PNP head to order all police officials in the country to take care on all crimes in their respective areas of jurisdiction, by applying preventive measure or a total solution to it.

PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima has challenged all police commanders in the four provinces of region 7 to be always vigilant now that they have observed the weak process of charging these crimes in courts.

Purisima said that those crimes that cannot be prevented must be given a total solution to maintain the prevailing peace and order in all areas of the country as much as possible.
