Mandaue City Lobbies Ordinance on Over Loaded Dump Trucks

An ordinance regulating over loaded dump trucks is now being studied at the Mandaue City Council. The Mandaue City Council is contemplating to limit cargoes of dump trucks traveling within the said city to avoid roads from easy deterioration.

Mandaue City councilor Emmarie Lollipop Ouano-Dizon has filed an ordinance on overloaded dump trucks saying that all roads within the Mandaue city’s jurisdiction are under the proper care of the local government unit.

She added that whether it is local or national roads, the moment it needs repairs, the local government cannot avoid but to do its task to attend to it. But she said that considering that the over loading dump trucks are apparently the ones which can easily destroy city streets, the city legislator said that it is their prerogative to take actions on this problem.

She said that her ordinance is targeting against 10-wheeler trucks howling limestone, sand, and gravel passing the city streets and apparently because of its overweight they are considering it as the culprit of destroyed roads.

In her ordinance, Dizon said that each truck should only be limited to load limestone, sand, and gravel on a flat form of not over 2.30 meters width, not more than 4.73 meters length and not more than 0.92 meters walls.

Ouano –Dizon also emphasized that violators would be meted a penalty of P2,500 and imprisonment of not less than six months or a total cancellation of its transport permit.

Her ordinance has entrusted the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) or environment officer to arrest all law violators.
