The bank robbery-murder suspect arrested by the police on Sunday denied he ran off with P80,000 from the bank he allegedly robbed on January 1.

Berly Tudtud, 28, claimed he carted P32,000 where he took with him P12,000 when he fled to Negros Occidental after the incident. He said he surrendered to the police the remaining P20,000, which he buried.

Tudtud countered First Agro-Industrial Rural Bank, Inc. was not telling the truth when it reported to the police that he took away P80,000.

When asked by reporters about the death of bank employees, Tudtud owned up the killing of Jennylyn Migabon, the bank’s accounting clerk, security guard Deab Desserto and Cecilia Torres using a shotgun. He said he had to kill Torres as she was on his way when he was about to rob the bank, while the two other victims were just collateral damage as they saw him doing the robbery.

Tudtud was arrested in Barangay Tadlong in Sagay City, Negros Occidental. He said he was about to go to Manila to evade the police.

Meanwhile, Tudtud was presented by the police to Gov. Hilario Davide III at the Cebu Provincial Capitol.
