Mayor’s Son to Sue Mandaue Hospital
For allegedly refusing to treat them last Saturday night, Talisay City Mayor Johnny V. delos Reyes’ youngest son, John Venth, has threatened to sue Mandaue City District Hospital (MCDH).
“We will pursue the filing of the case against Mandaue City District Hospital,” said John Venth in a statement he posted on his Facebook. John Venth was referring to Dr. Maria Lourdes Espinoza, MCDH administrator, who earlier told the media that the hospital did not deny treatment to John Venth and his girlfriend, Salvee Vega and that they were just busy that night and the couple was insistent that they be attended first even if their conditions were not life-threatening like the others.
In his statement, John Venth said they will personally see Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes “to clarify all this issue about MCDH.”
“Ang sakit nga akong nabati sa paso wala na nakapabuta naku. Di jud to mo minos ug 6 ka nurses nga ga tanga lang ga tan-aw sa amo,” he said. The mayor’s son also said that the MCDH nurses allegedly told them that they could not treat them as the incident happened in Cebu City. “Dili jud me mohilabot ana kay vehicular accident dayon sa Cebu City nahitabo,” he said quoting the nurses.
John Venth said the purpose of going to Cortes is to show to him that they had suffered burns and what happened was not a vehicular accident.
“Kini pagpasaka namo ug kaso dili ni para pag protection sa ako or tungod kay nasuko me. Ipasaka namo ni para sa kausaban anang MCDH ug para sa mga Mandauehanon nga nagkinahanglan ug tabang nga intawn balibaran lang,” he said.
The mayor’s son and Salvee were travelling along Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City when John Venth’s Yamaha 1,000-cc motorcycle engine exploded. John Venth sustained second-degree burns in both thighs, while Salvee got minor burns in her arms.
For almost two days, the mayor’s son was confined at Chong Hua Hospital for treatment.
