Fire Hits Umapad Mandaue
Fire hits Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City and razed 42 houses at around 5am today, December 14, 2013.
Authorities said at least 60 families were displaced by the fire while investigators pegged the damage at P300,000. Mandaue City lone district Congressman Luigi Quisumbing was among those first to distribute food packs to the victims who were temporarily housed at Umapad Elementary School.
This is the second fire to hit the metropolis in less than a week.
Earlier this week, a fire consumed hundreds of houses in Barangays Caretta, Tejero and Quit Pardo, prompting local authorities to place the three barangays under a state of calamity.
