Three evacuation centers are still operating and attending to the needs of about 300 typhoon victims who seek refuge in Cebu City.

As of Monday, December 2, the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services said the remaining centers are in barangay Tinago, Guadalupe, and Cogon Ramos.

Evacuation centers in Capitol Parish, San Roque, and San Nicolas are already closed since Friday, November 29. DSWS said that the refugees decided to go back to their provinces in Samar and Leyte to rebuild their homes and to start anew.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 has already turned over the evacuation centers to the city and barangays starting December.

DSWS chief Ester Concha said that they have already taken over the supervision of the remaining centers in the city and that distribution of relief goods are still ongoing. A Japanese Medical Team is still catering to the medical needs of the evacuees in barangay Guadalupe.

Celebrating Christmas parties with the refugees are also welcome. For those who are interested, please coordinate directly with the barangay or contact the assigned social worker in each center to have it scheduled. DSWS could also provide you with the number of individuals per center.
