Yolanda Damage Reaches P23.8-B

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said super typhoon Yolanda’s damage went high further Sunday with reports of damage to infrastructure increasing.

The NDRRMC said the damage caused by Yolanda had reached P23.8 billion, with around P13.9 billion of it were damage to infrastructure. The council added Yolanda also caused P10.7 billion in damage to agriculture.

The NDRRMC said the death toll remained at 5,235, with 25,559 injured and 1,613 still missing.

The NDRRMC also said that as of November 22, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines has reported 1,959 transmission facilities damaged, including backbone transmission lines, converter stations and steel poles.

Super Typhoon Yolanda ravaged Eastern Visayas and some parts of Luzon on November 8, 2013 leaving thousands dead and hundreds of families displaced.
