RAFI Calls Organizations to Coordinate With Foundation for Consolidation of Relief Efforts

RAFI is calling on all institutions and organizations involved in relief efforts for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda to coordinate with RAFI’s relief operations to come up with more integrated relief efforts and maximize resources. 

Marfil said the intent is to consolidate all information on relief efforts so that everyone would know where each other went. This way, each organization would know which places to go next in the distribution of relief goods.

RAFI is willing to serve as a consolidator of all information, which the foundation would send out to all concerned and anybody interested each day at 6 p.m.

 Meanwhile, RAFI continues today its packing of relief goods as it targets other areas like Camotes island for its next batch of relief packs.

It is also continually accepting donations for those affected by super typhoon Yolanda.

Donations could be dropped at the RAFI office at 35 Lopez Jaena St., Parian, Cebu City; or at the Casa Gorordo Museum. RAFI is open anytime to accept all donations.

RAFI is hiring locals where it would be giving away relief packs both as a practical approach to the distribution and a way of providing income to them.

“It is logistically practical and at the same time we are contributing also to them because they are in need of money.  Gamay na lang ang atong mahatag pero naa silay ma-income,” said Edwin Marfil, in-charge of the RAFI relief operations command center.

He said that while each truck RAFI has and would send are accompanied by volunteers, the Foundation is hiring local hands in the loading and unloading of relief items for distribution.

The Foundation has so far distributed 3,000 relief packs in the three towns of Bantayan Island (Sta. Fe, Madridejos, Bantayan) and 6,000 more in Bogo City and the mainland Cebu towns of Daanbantayan, Medellin, and San Remigio.
