Cebu City Donates Cash for Typhoon Victims

The Cebu City Council passed a resolution this morning giving a total of P12 million to the different towns in Northern Cebu, neighboring cities and provinces that were affected by typhoon ‘Yolanda’ last Friday.

The budget will be taken from the Quick Response Fund as immediate response to the recent calamity now being experienced by a number of places brought upon the super typhoon that hit Eastern and Central Visayas.

Cebu Province will have a total of P5.2 million, with towns in Medellin and Daan Bantayan each having P1 million; P500,000 each for Bogo City, San Remegio, Santa Fe, Madridejos, Bantayan Proper, Tabugon; and P200, 000 for Borbon.

Also, an amount of P200,000 each will be given to Camotes, Pilar, Todela, and Poro in Northern Cebu.

Northern Leyte will have a total of P3.5 million, with cities in Tacloban and Ormoc each having P1 million; and P500,000 each for towns in Palo, Palompon and Isabel.

Another P500,000 each will be given to Eastern Samar, Iloilo City, and Coron in Palawan. Negros Occidental and Capiz City will also have P500,000 each.

Councilor Alvin Dizon, in a corollary motion to the resolution, asked all cargo forwarders based in Cebu City to offer for free the sending of relief goods to the affected areas. He also requested the different pharmacies, drug stores, and hardware stores to offer price discounts to essential first aid medicines as typhoon reliefs and hardware products for rebuilding damaged houses.
