Dancesport Team Cebu City Bags Gold Medals; 2014 Events Lined Up

Cebu’s pride the Dancesport Team Cebu City (DTCC) bagged gold medals in the 17th Dancesport Council of the Philippines Inc. (DSCPI) National Dancesport Championship 2013 and 1st International Friendship Games (wheelchair dancesport competition).

There were 16 gold medals garnered, nine on second place with silver medals, seven on third place with bronzes, four on fourth place, two on fifth, and one on the sixth place.

The team also finished the Batang Pinoy Dancesport Competition-Visayas Leg with flying colors bringing home five gold medals, five silvers, four couples on third place and one on fourth place.

Young John Paul Mocorro received the most number of gold medals for the Junior A Standard and Latin, and the Youth C Standard and Latin, paired with Therese Andre’ Quilaton and Jam Flores. Andrew Ysla and Kathlene Joy Diluvio were next to get the most number of gold with two.

Romeo, Ryan Joshua and Page Ianah Silud got the most number of top awards in the Standard Juvenile D, C and Latin Juvenile C categories. Papellero, Carl Nathanyl and Labra, Jasmine Silud came next in the Standard Juvenile A and Latin Juvenile A categories.

The competitions were held at the Philsports Arena (formerly Ultra) in Pasig City, Metro Manila last October 12, 2013 and in Maasin City Sports Complex last September 28, 2013, respectively.

On the other hand, the DTCC has also announced its line of events for year 2014. They are as follows:

• March 31, April 1, 9, 10, 11, 12, 2014—Summer Dancesport Free Workshop in Cebu City Public Schools
• April 9-12, 2014—Dancesport Dance Camp Cebu in Mountain View, Busay, Cebu City
• May 2014—Inter-School/ University Dancesport Challenge
• June 2014—Philippine National Games (PNG)
• July 2014—DSCPI Midyear Ranking & Competition in Ultra, Pasig City
• August 9, 2014—Cebu Open Dancesport Championship in Waterfront Hotel & Casino
• September 2014—Batang Pinoy Visayas Qualifying Leg
• October 2014—DSCPI National Championship in Ultra, Pasig City and Negros Occidental, City of Smiles Dancesport Championship in Bacolod City
• November 2014—Batang Pinoy Finals

Meanwhile, winners of the 6th DanceSport sa Sugbu photo contest are Rafael S. Ybañez for first place,and John Paul Manansala for second and third places.
