The City of Naga on Wednesday delivered relief goods and aid to the remote town of Loon, Bohol, which was badly affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake last week.

The City, represented by Councilor Nicky Señor along with volunteers, traveled from Naga to the town of Napo, Loon to distribute more than 500 bags of relief goods and 3,000 bottles of water.

The councilor said the funds that was used to buy the goods came from city official’s personal money including that of Mayor Val Chiong’s.

He said some private individuals also donated sacks of rice and boxes of canned goods.

“Na-inspire pud mi sa ubang organization nga nitabang sa Bohol. Bisan ginagmay, at least nakatabang pud ta,” the councilor said.

The help is apart from the City of Naga’s P1 million financial assistance to Bohol, which, Mayor Chiong said, will be personally turned over to the Bohol province once the check becomes ready.

The town of Loon is a second income class municipality in the province of Bohol. It was among the hardest hit towns after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the areas of Visayas and Mindanao last October 15, 2013. About a third of all casualties occurred in Loon, where its church, dating from the 1850s totally crumbled to the ground.
