Why You Should Have Second Thoughts On Drinking Bottled Water Sold on The Streets

Published

Take a look at the picture above. If you see the small red arrow just near the front wheel of the red vehicle, you will notice blocks of ice. Those blocks of ice are just lying on the street on top of the street’s drainage system. I was passing by this street and saw persons unloading the ice blocks from a delivery truck and placed on the street with the ice coming in direct contact with the floor. The ice was then chipped using an ice pick to be placed in coolers which are used to keep bottled drinking water sold on the streets.

Now imagine your ice placed on the floor near the drainage system. This ice is placed in the cooler where your drinking water is kept cool. Then as you drink your water, water from the melted ice comes into contact with your hands and possibly the mouth of your bottle. You get not just refreshing water but free germs; germs which cause diarrhea, typhoid fever, amoebiasis, etc.

Attention authorities, it’s about time we have a program educating bottled water vendors about safe handling of ice. Commercial Bottled water is prepared ensuring that it is clean and safe to drink but with contaminated ice, the health of the public is endangered.
