Mactan-Cebu International Airport Named Best in Asia-Pacific for Passenger Experience
The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has once again placed Cebu on the global aviation map, clinching the Best Airport in Asia-Pacific (5–15 Million Passengers Per Annum) award at the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards by Airports Council International (ACI) World. The award was presented during the Airport Experience Summit in Guangzhou, China, and is based entirely on direct passenger feedback, cementing MCIA’s reputation as a world-class gateway.
MCIA General Manager and CEO Julius Neri Jr. and Head of Reputation & Customer Experience Ricia Montejo accepted the award, highlighting the airport’s commitment to blending operational excellence with the warmth of Cebuano hospitality.
In 2024, MCIA handled 11.3 million passengers, a 13% increase from the previous year, and welcomed over 900,000 international tourists in 2023, 17% of the country’s total arrivals. Earlier this year, MCIA was also recognized as the 7th Most Improved Airport at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards.
MCIA’s operator, Aboitiz InfraCapital, likewise received the Grand Tourism Excellence Award from the Manila Overseas Press Club for its role in boosting tourism in the Visayas and Mindanao.
