Free Design Tools Now Available for All DepEd Teachers and Learners
In a landmark move to empower visual learning across Philippine classrooms, all Department of Education (DepEd) teachers, students, and staff with a valid DepEd email address now have free access to premium design tools through Canva Education. This initiative comes just in time for the opening of the new school year and is set to transform how Filipino educators and learners engage with educational content.
The rollout follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Canva and DepEd in October 2024. Since then, thousands of public school teachers across the country have already tapped into the platform to craft engaging materials and nurture visual communication skills among their students. Today’s nationwide expansion means every K–12 classroom—no matter the region—can harness these creative tools at zero cost.
This milestone also marks a global achievement for Canva, which now reaches over 100 million teachers and students designing on its platform every month. The company’s mission to democratize design and make creativity accessible is now directly fueling educational innovation in the Philippines.
“Our mission at Canva has always been to democratize design and empower everyone to communicate their ideas visually,” said Maisie Littaua, Country Manager of Canva Philippines. “We want to plant seeds early and ensure we’re impacting young lives from the classroom up. Visual communication is quickly becoming a critical skill for the future workforce. With this full rollout, we’re equipping Filipino educators and learners with powerful tools to make learning more engaging, collaborative, and effective—while preparing them for the world ahead.”
Canva Education offers thousands of education-specific templates, real-time collaboration features, content planning tools, and seamless integration with platforms like Google Classroom and Microsoft Teams. Designed with safety and accessibility at its core, the platform ensures a secure and age-appropriate experience for all users.
“This initiative marks a key step in Canva’s broader commitment to advancing education and digital inclusion across Southeast Asia. By starting with the Philippines, we’re taking a meaningful step toward equipping the next generation with intuitive, inclusive, and accessible visual communication tools,” said Yani Hornilla-Donato, Regional Lead for Southeast Asia at Canva.
“Filipino teachers have always been heroes in their own right. Give them Canva, and now they’ve got superpowers,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara. “We’re grateful to Canva for equipping our educators and learners nationwide with world-class tools. This is exactly the kind of innovation the Marcos administration supports: tech that empowers, tools that uplift, and education that prepares our people for the future.”
