Joining them were Cleofe Albiso, managing director, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (left) and Chris Cho, vice president for development – Singapore, Philippines, Korea, and Maldives, Accor.

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, the country’s largest developer and operator of homegrown Filipino hotel brands, has announced a strategic partnership with Accor, a world-leading hospitality group with a portfolio of over 5,600 properties across 110 countries.

This collaboration brings Accor’s internationally renowned hotel brands—including Sofitel, Fairmont, Raffles, Swissotel, Pullman, Mövenpick, and Mercure—under the operational umbrella of Megaworld’s hospitality arm. Accor will provide operational support and integrate its global standards in guest services and reservation systems into select Megaworld-managed hotels.

As part of the agreement, these select hotels will be included in Accor’s loyalty program, ALL – Accor Live Limitless, enabling guests to earn points and enjoy exclusive perks.

The first to undergo transformation is Belmont Hotel Mactan, which will rebrand as Mercure Mactan Cebu later this year. Located in the 30-hectare Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, this will be the first of several Megaworld properties to carry an Accor brand.

“We are honored to collaborate with a top-notch hospitality group like Accor, which has established global industry leadership for its diverse and extensive portfolio, strong business performance, strategic growth initiatives, and sustainability practices. With Mercure Mactan Cebu, we aim to redefine Cebu’s tourism landscape by combining our group’s local expertise with Accor’s global leadership in hospitality. Mercure Mactan Cebu will not only enhance the Mactan Newtown development as a destination of choice but also play a pivotal role in driving tourism growth and stimulating the local economy; opening opportunities for better returns for immediate stakeholders and supporting a thriving local community,” says Cleofe Albiso, managing director, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts.

Andrew Langdon, Accor’s Chief Development Officer for Asia, highlighted the strategic significance of the Philippines in the group’s expansion, especially with the increasing demand for hotels catering to both business and leisure travelers—a trend commonly known as “bleisure” travel.

“We are accelerating the growth of our Premium, Midscale & Economy (PM&E) Division with a focused strategy to expand in sought-after destinations across Asia. The Philippines remains a vital market for us, and the signing of Mercure Mactan Cebu is fully aligned with our ambition to meet the growing demand for hotels that serve both leisure and business travellers, driven by the continued rise of bleisure travel. With Mactan-Cebu International Airport among the country’s leading gateways, Cebu is fast emerging as a preferred destination for domestic and international visitors. We are proud to bring this locally inspired hotel to life in collaboration with Megaworld, a leading urban community developer with a strong track record of uplifting communities and contributing to national progress,” Langdon remarked.

Currently, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts operates 13 hotels with around 7,000 rooms in destinations including Metro Manila, Tagaytay, Cebu, and Boracay. Brands include Richmonde, Belmont, Savoy, and Kingsford Hotels, among others.

In the next three years, the group plans to open seven additional hotels in Palawan, Pampanga, Bacolod, and Iloilo. Once completed, Megaworld’s hotel portfolio will grow to 20 properties with a total of 9,000 rooms. Upcoming hotels include: Chancellor Hotel Boracay, Belmont Hotel Iloilo, Kingsford Hotel Bacolod, Savoy Hotel Palawan, Paraguay Sands Palawan, ArcoVia Hotel, and Savoy Capital Town Pampanga.

The landmark partnership with Accor comes on the heels of Megaworld’s milestone opening of the 1,530-room Grand Westside Hotel in Parañaque City last year—the largest hotel in the Philippines by room count.
