Experience Cebu’s Iconic Mango Festival at The Mactan Newtown
The Cebu Mangoes Festival 2025 has returned to The Mactan Newtown, running from May 16 to June 8, bringing a vibrant celebration of Cebu’s world-famous mangoes. This annual event, held in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Department of Tourism, Department of Trade and Industry, and the local governments of Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City, honors the island’s rich agricultural heritage through culinary exhibitions, cultural showcases, and exciting festivities.
“More than just a tropical treat, the mango is deeply woven into Cebuano life—reflected in local delicacies, export products, and even crafts. The mango is a symbol of the food culture and identity of Cebuanos that is why it is only fitting that we celebrate it here in our township, which is home to the only boulevard in Cebu lined with over 200 mango trees,” said Graham Coates, head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.
The festival kicked off with a colorful street parade, culminating in the unveiling of the Giant Mango Halo-Halo, a massive dessert featuring over 200 kilograms of mangoes blended with tropical fruits and shaved ice. Created in partnership with Alaska, the halo-halo was shared with beneficiaries from the Children of Cebu Foundation and local schools—reinforcing the festival’s commitment to uplifting the local community while celebrating Cebu’s signature fruit.
Food lovers can indulge in the Cebu Mangoes Food Festival, where local farmers and entrepreneurs present fresh mango harvests and innovative mango-based products. The Mango Culinary Showdown highlights the talents of student chefs as they craft both sweet and savory mango dishes, while renowned Filipino chef Myke “Tatung” Sarthou delivers live cooking demonstrations, showcasing the versatility of Cebu’s mangoes.
Beyond food, the festival embraces Cebu’s rich traditions with the Cebu Mangoes Festival Queen Pageant, celebrating beauty and heritage. Sustainability remains a key focus with the Mango Seed Planting Ceremony, ensuring the continued growth of Cebu’s mango industry.
Families can enjoy interactive experiences such as meet-and-greets with Jodie Mango, the festival’s cheerful mascot, and the highly anticipated Mango Eating Contest, where participants race to devour the island’s sweetest fruit.
One of the festival’s highlights is the Great Mango Harvest, taking place on May 31, where 50 lucky guests will have the unique opportunity to handpick mangoes straight from The Mactan Newtown’s own trees, making for an unforgettable farm-to-table experience.
