LG Unveils ‘Pocket-Sized’ G Pad 8.3 Tablet

LG Electronics officially took the wraps off its much-rumored G Pad 8.3 tablet, it will be formally introduced next week at the IFA 2013 conference in Berlin. The LG G Pad tablet sports an 8.3 inch display which offers 1920×1200 pixel resolution at 273 pixels per inch.

Under the hood there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, aided by 2GB of RAM. It has a 5 megapixel rear and a 1.3 megapixel front camera. It comes with 16GB of on-board storage memory. Power is provided by a 4600mAh battery. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean comes pre-installed on the LG G Pad, which will be available in black and white colors. The company says that this tablet will be rolled out globally in key markets including North America, Asia and Europe in the fourth quarter of 2013.

LG didn’t elaborate on the price, adding that this particular information will be provided at launch date.

This is the first time in a year that LG is launching a new tablet. In a statement, the company said the G Pad 8.3 complements its recently launched G2 smartphone, which aims to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S4.
