MCCI Gears Up for the Digital Economy with Mandaue Business Month 2023
The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry is set to hold the annual Mandaue Business Month (MBM) with activities geared towards preparing businesses in the digital world.
The growth of modern technology expected within 10 years basically came in just one year, said Mark Ynoc, chair of the MBM 2023 during a media launch last Thursday, July 20.
He cited as an example when businesses used to own a boutique to sell clothing. Now the businessman just needs a space storage and sells it online.
“We live in a time when it is very unique and brand new to all of us,” added Ynoc who is Vice President of Prime Movers Total Logistics, Inc.
Ynoc however admitted that the biggest problem still facing businesses in the digital world is still connectivity problems.
“It is always the connectivity problem. We have the slowest and the most expensive Internet in the world,” Ynoc added.
He said that it is often hard to implement online payment systems when the Internet is slow or unavailable.
MCCI President Kelie Ko said that they will come up with a series of forums to change the mindset of the businesses that often think that digitalization is expensive or difficult to implement.
“We want to tell them it might not be (expensive and difficult), resources are available,” Ko added.
The series of events in this year’s MBM will be a forum on enhancing online reputation in the travel industry in a post-pandemic world which will be held at the City Sports Club on August 24.
The MCCI business summit, its main event, will be on August 23 at the Marco Polo Hotel in Cebu City.
There will also be a property and investments expo, bakery world, sugbo negosyo exhibit, and other events which will dwell on the digital economy.
