PNoy Offers P10M Reward For Info on Fugitive Napoles
One day after the nationwide ‘anti-pork barrel’ rally held last Monday, President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday announced the government is offering a P10 million reward for any information leading to the arrest of fugitive businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles.
Earlier on Wednesday, Justice Sec. Leila De Lima said there is no indication that fugitive Janet Lim-Napoles has left the country. “Walang indikasyon, walang info, walang verified lead ang NBI and even other law enforcement agencies like PNP and even sa intelligence na nakalabas na sila [ng bansa],” De Lima told reporters at the 8th East Asia Conference on Competition Law and Policy at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza on Wednesday, Gma news online reported.
Secretary De Lima issued the statement after an immigration official revealed that the three yachts allegedly owned by Napoles had been reported missing. De Lima, however, said this info had already surfaced during the first few days of her disappearance.
“Yan yung parang may nakuhang tip yung NBI meron daw mga yate dun sa Manila Yacht Club at pinuntahan nila negative naman so I think yung info na yan ay parang rehashed lang,” she said.
The Department of Justice said they are not letting their guards down. “Lahat naman talagang leads lalo kapag nakita naman based on the initial assessment of the NBI… na medyo plausible ang isang lead ang isang info ay pinupursue ito,” De Lima said. The secretary added that she expects the government to give out a reward for her capture.
When asked by reporters if the police or a politician could be harboring Napoles, the Secretary said that is “always a possibility.”
On early morning Wednesday, a Makati court ordered the arrest of Napoles and her brother, Reynald Lim, over a serial illegal detention charge of supposed whistleblower, Benhur Luy, gma news online reported.
