The Department of Trade and Industry 7 (DTI 7) held a two-day training for over 100 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to improve their knowledge of digitizing their businesses last May 10-11.

DTI 7 partnered with PLDT, Smart Communications (Smart), the local government units in Lapu-Lapu City and Cebu City, and Shopee Philippines to launch this seminar titled “Pilipinas: Aahon at Babangon” learning caravan, a hybrid community technopreneurship training for MSMEs.

MSMEs who participated in the seminar were introduced to the different aspects of engaging your business through digital means.

Participants of the seminar were introduced to social media marketing, maximizing the use of Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms to reach more customers.

They are also introduced to mobile photography to help showcase their products through social media with engaging photos of their products.

Meanwhile, they are also trained on how to maximize their business through e-commerce platforms, especially with the use of the e-commerce app, Shopee.

DTI 7 Provincial Director Rose Mae Quiñanola emphasized the importance of MSMEs in the country’s economy, citing MSMEs’ large contribution to the business sector.

“Our MSMEs make up the largest portion of the country’s businesses today and the Department of Trade and Industry is in the forefront of making sure to capacitate our MSMEs in their digital transformation, thus helping them become more resilient and sustainable,” Quiñanola said.

The “Pilipinas: Aahon at Babangon” learning caravan was simultaneously conducted in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. (ASC)
