SM Executives Lead Notable CPAs in Centenary Awards of Excellence

The Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy (PRBOA) recognized four executives from SM for their outstanding contributions to the accountancy profession by conferring them with the Centenary Awards of Excellence. Among the 100 notable Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) in the Philippines, Jose T. Sio, Jeffrey C. Lim, Nestor V. Tan, and Roque “Ricky” A. Lim were honored with the award. The PRBOA commended the recipients for their impeccable integrity, immense contribution to the advancement of the accountancy profession, and remarkable participation in national development.

Mr. Sio expressed his gratitude for the recognition and acknowledged his mentors, Mr. Washington Sycip of SGV and Mr. Henry Sy of SM, for providing him with opportunities to hone his profession and contribute to national growth and development.

Mr. Lim stated that the role of accountants has evolved beyond reporting to becoming stewards of accountability and governance. Meanwhile, Mr. Tan emphasized the crucial role of accounting in the banking industry, and Mr. Ricky A. Lim highlighted the importance of accounting in the success and survival of any business, especially in the retail sector.

The award ceremony was held at the Grand Ballroom of the Manila Hotel on March 17, 2023, to culminate the celebration of the 100th year anniversary of the Accountancy Profession in the Philippines. The PRBOA partnered with the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry, the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice, the Government Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education for the event.
