COVID-19 Cases in PH See Week-on-Week Rise
COVID-19 cases in the country are seemingly on the rise once again as the state health department reported a massive spike in cases.
According to the Department of Health (DOH) weekly bulletin, 9,069 individuals caught COVID-19 within the period of November 7 to 13, which translates to an increase of 43 percent compared to the previous week.
Of the 9,069 individuals, six are severely and critically ill, while a total of 613 are currently admitted to hospitals.
Moreover, the DOH added that COVID-19 deaths in November are now almost on par with the verified deaths in October, as 39 deaths already occurred this month compared to the 42 recorded deaths in October.
“Of the 113 deaths, 39 occurred in November 2022, 42 in October 2022, 13 in September 2022, 2 in August 2022, 4 in March 2021, 4 in February 2021, 4 in January 2021, 1 in December 2020, 3 in November 2020, and 1 in September 2020,” DOH said.
Central Visayas sees an increase in COVID-19 cases
Meanwhile, Central Visayas saw 638 new reported COVID-19 cases from November 5 to November 12, with an average of 78 new cases per day, according to the Department of Health – Central Visayas Center for Health Development.
This translates to an 18 percent increase compared to the period of October 30 to November 12.
Of the 638 new cases, 4 are critically ill, while 11 deaths were verified from the period of November 6 to November 12.
Vaccination update
The DOH reported that 73.6 million individuals are now vaccinated, translating to 94.29 percent of the population.
Moreover, 20.7 million individuals have received their booster shots.
Meanwhile, 6.9 million senior citizens have received their primary shots, equating to 79.42 percent of the target population. (GFB)
