Cebu Nominated as ‘Most Desirable Region,’ PH Nominated ‘Most Desirable Country’ in UK Magazine
The beauty of Cebu, Palawan, and the Philippines in general, will have another shot of being recognized as the island province and the country are nominated as ‘Most Desirable’ places in an international travel magazine, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT).
DOT announced the nominations on Sunday and urged the public to vote for Cebu, Palawan, and the Philippines on the 21st annual Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards.
“We are nominated for 21st annual Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards by one of UK’s longest running travel magazine, Wanderlust Travel Magazine,” the DOT announced on its Facebook page.
The Philippines earned nominations in three major categories.
The Philippines was nominated as the Most Desirable Country, Cebu as the Most Desirable Region, and Palawan as the Most Desirable Island.
Cebu will be going up against regions such as Abu Dhabi, California, Dubai, Florida, the Galapagos Islands, Hokkaido, Kerala, Patagonia, Quebec, and the Silk Road, among others.
Palawan is going up against islands such as Bali, Cuba, Koh Lipe, Langkawi, Madagascar, Maui, among others.
The Philippines is vying for the Most Desirable Country award together with countries such as Australia, Canada, Maldives, The United States, Japan, and Southeast Asian neighbors Malaysia and Thailand.
DOT urged the public on its Facebook page to cast votes for the country.
“Show your support for the flag and cast your votes for the country,” DOT said.
Voting for the 21st Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards will end on October 25.
Meanwhile, winners will be unveiled at the Tower of London in November 2022. (GFB)
