The Cebu City Government has donated new equipment to the Bureau of Fire Protection 7 (BFP) needed for their rescue operations in the city.

A total of P839, 658 worth of brand-new rescue gears were formally turned-over by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama to City Fire marshal Atty. Vonrad Fernando Dubluis accompanied by his search and rescue unit last August 13 at Cebu City Hall.

Two sets of rescue equipment were purchased from Weld Industrial Sales worth P546, 980 of 40 items; and another 71 items from D.L.A. Marine & Safety & Trading worth P292, 768.

The original budget allotted for the equipment was P1 million from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) but was able to save around P160,000 upon purchase.

CCDRRMO operations officer Alvin Santillana said that the donation was in compliance with the standing order of Mayor Rama in support of BFP’s response capability including other disaster related incidents.

Mayor Rama said that the city will continue giving assistance to the fire department despite certain circumstances involving local and national government issues.

Dubluis expressed his gratefulness to the city’s assistance and said that these are very helpful to them even though they still need more equipment for the other substations in the city to be able to respond properly to fire alarms at the soonest time possible. (Gessa Gunhuran, PIO Staff)
