The Cebu Provincial government released a new Executive Order (EO) that allows public transportation to operate at 100% capacity, as the Cebu is now under Alert Level 2.

Cebu Provincial Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has issued EO No.7, which allows public utility vehicles (PUVs) such as buses, minibusses, utility vehicle expresses, taxis, and public utility jeepneys (PUJs) to operate at 100% capacity starting March 1.

However, the EO also stressed that extension seats and passengers standing on aisles are not allowed.

PUVs are also required to regularly disinfect their vehicle surfaces to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

“PUVs shall regularly disinfect all surfaces, especially seats, armrests, and handles, with disinfecting agents and Ultraviolet Germicidal Light,” the EO reads.

PUV drivers and conductors are also required to wear facemasks at all times. The wearing of personal air purifiers is also encouraged.

Passengers, conductors, and drivers are required to follow health protocols inside the vehicles.

Aside from vehicles permits and other documents required for their operation, PUVs operating in the province needs to secure a Provincial Public Utility Pass.

Provincial Public Utility Passes should indicate:

  • the plate number of the PUV
  • control number
  • QR Code
  • signatures of the Governor at the front and the Provincial Administrator at the back

PUVs are required to bring their valid Provincial Public Utility Vehicle Passes at all times.

“Non-compliance with the aforementioned requirements shall subject the PUV to appropriate penalties as prescribed by the LTO and LTFRB and such other laws and regulations deem applicable,” the EO states.

According to the EO, PUVs also need to secure trip tickets to be allowed to exit the North and South bus terminals.

PNP checkpoints will also be deployed in the province to ensure the compliance of PUVs. (ASC)
