The Japanese government sent donations for the victims of Typhoon Odette in Cebu last January 4, 2021.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Visayas received donations from Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), represented by the Consul General of Japan in Cebu, Mr. Toshihide Kawasaki, at the Regional Warehouse in Labangon, Cebu City.

Director Geamala hopes that this will be the first of many partnerships and coordination between the Department and of Japan for the families in Central Visayas.

The donated goods include 25 boxes of dome tents, five (5) boxes of sleeping mattresses, 24 boxes of sleeping pads, 225 plastic sheets, 15 units of cord reels, 30 sets of adaptor plugs, and five (5) boxes of portable jerry cans.

Sibonga, Argao, and Cordova towns in Cebu, identified as among the heavily affected areas in the province by Typhoon Odette, will receive the goods.

DSWD continues to work with various local and international organizations in providing needed support to the disaster-affected areas in the region.
