600 Chinese Brands Banned from Amazon After Fraud Crackdown Review
Tech and e-commerce giant Amazon has banned over 600 Chinese brands after approximately 3,000 sellers were reportedly intentionally violating Amazon’s policies repeatedly, especially brands or shops that abuse the Amazon review system.
Amazon’s crackdown began five months earlier and became largerr with widespread attention when the company banned Aukey and Mpow.
Sellers, like RAVPower, were caught offering its customers gift cards in exchange for reviews. Other sellers were also caught doing the same thing.
There are no news or number cited yet on how many non-Chinese brands that also violated the policies were banned.
According to Sean Hollister from The Verge, Amazon has banned the practice of incentivized reviews since 2016. Some shops in Amazon were reportedly offering a VIP testing program or an extended warranty in exchange of good reviews.
Other brands also offer incentives only after a customer leaves a bad review such as a free product or refund of free money as long as the negative review is deleted.
Banning brands that have violated review policies under the wide anti-fraud strategy has changed Amazon’s marketplace for the better, much to the chagring of companies that rely heavily on Amazon for sales.
