LPA, Habagat Causing Scattered Rains in Visayas
Visayas is currently experiencing scattered rains in the recent days due to a low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or habagat looming in the country.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Luzon and Visayas regions will also experience thunderstorms, with rain likely to pour in the afternoon and at night time.
“The LPA and southwest monsoon will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Luzon. Rains are likely in the afternoon and at night,” according to Meno Mendoza of PAGASA.
Apart from the thunderstorms and scattered rain, Visayas is also expected to experience cloudy skies as the LPA continues to traverse the vicinity of the Philippine area of responsibility.
The LPA was last reported to be in an area 280 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, but has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression, Mendoza added.
Moreover, the entire Philippine archipelago will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. (GFB)
