Cebu Back to MECQ
The whole of Cebu will be under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from August 1 to August 15.
The change in quarantine restriction comes after Cebu logged 32 new cases of the COVID-19 Delta variant last July 29, 2021.
According to the Department of Health (DOH) 7, of the 32 new cases, 19 were from Lapu-Lapu City, six were from Cebu City, three were from Mandaue, two were from Cordova, and two were from Samboan.
This new community quarantine measure was a sudden jump from the loosest Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).
Although the Cebu Provincial Governor of Cebu and the Tricity mayors have sent an appeal, they eventually accepted the new community quarantine measure.
With Cebu under MECQ, there will be stricter implementations of health safety protocols and travel restrictions will be reapplied. However, businesses will still be open in Cebu. (ASC)
