Over 16 Million COVID-19 Vaccines Delivered by End of July
Over 16 million additional vaccines for COVID-19 will have been delivered to the Philippines by the end of July alone, according to the national government.
The delivered vaccines together with the ones yet to arrive comprises of doses procured by the government, procurements from the private sector, donations from JAPAN, and vaccines from the COVAX facility,
On July 7, the country received 170,000 jabs of the Sputnik V vaccine that were procured by the government. On July 8, the country received 1,124,100 AstraZeneca vaccines that were donated by Japan. The country also received 3,024,000 Johnson & Johnson vaccines that were donated by the United States via the COVAX facility on mid-July, together with 2,028,000 AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX facility.
Moreover, the country is slated to receive over 8,680,000 vaccines produced by different pharmaceutical firms such as Moderna, Pfizer, and Sinovac.
The private sector also procured 1,170,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine that will arrive on July 18.
The addition of the 16,205,240 million vaccines will bring the total vaccines that the country will have received to over 33,600,000 doses.
Vaccine deliveries to the country from February 2021 to June 2021 was over 17,450,000 doses.
The Philippines targets to vaccinate over 70 million people from the 109 million total population of the country to achieve herd immunity from COVID-19. (GFB)
