The Cebu City government continues its coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) Vaccination Massive Information Drive to further increase public confidence in getting vaccinated against the pandemic.

As COVID-19 vaccinations are continuously ongoing throughout the country, local government units scramble to encourage and disseminate information to their constituents that are having second doubts in getting a jab.

Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) spearheads the information campaign that aims to go to different barangays throughout the city.

CCMC Hospital Administrator Ma. Yvonne Cania, Medical Director Dr. Anton Oliver A. Reposar II, and Assistant Medical Director Dr. Eduardo A. Camalongay, members of the top brass of the hospital, led the the June 1, 2021 leg of the campaign which included information drives to Barangays Buhisan, Calamba, Guadalupe, Kalunasan, Labangon, Pasil, Sawang Calero, Sto. Niño, and Suba.

Cania urged residents of the said barangays in Cebu City to be vaccinated for protection against COVID-19.

Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella said in a Facebook post that the vaccination drive will continue to increase vaccine confidence.

“We are continuing this information drive to increase the vaccine confidence in our city,” he said.

The mayor also stressed the importance of the public to understand the need for the jab amid common misconceptions about vaccination.

“Tungod sa daghang misconceptions mahitungod sa pagpabakuna, importante kaayo nga masabtan sa katawhan nganong angayan kitang mabakunahan while we continue to observe the minimum health protocols (due to the many misconceptions about vaccination, it is very important that people understand why we must be vaccinated while we continue to observe the minimum health protocols),” Labella said.
