City Savings Bank, Inc. (CitySavings) together with nine other Aboitiz firms including the Aboitiz Foundation was recognized by the Department of Education (DepEd) for their valuable contribution and support to the Basic Education – Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) at the Virtual Partners’ Appreciation event last May 14.

It recognized stakeholders and key partnership initiatives that helped DepEd fulfill its mandate to provide equal access and improve the quality of basic education, ensuring that no Filipino learner would be left behind.

“Your continued support has been a source of inspiration to us as we strive to respond to the call of the constitution for quality education for all learners,” said Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones as she recognized the collaboration with their partners.

In 2020, the Bank was at the forefront in supporting DepEd’s programs to ensure that basic quality education continues despite the challenges in adapting to the new normal. These include the donation of safety and sanitation essentials through its nationwide implementation of Brigada Eskwela and the provision of various learning and teaching support initiatives to schools, divisions, and regional offices.

“Ang atin pong Kagawaran ng Edukasyon ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa partner nating CitySavings na ilang taon na pong nakakasama natin lalung-lalo na sa usaping Brigada Eskwela. Hindi lamang po sa Central Office, ang CitySavings ay naging kabalikat ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon dahil marami na po tayong partnership engagements with our regional, schools divisions and even schools directly getting the assistance and various donated items from CitySavings (The Department of Education is grateful to our partner CitySavings who has been with us for several years especially during Brigada Eskwela. CitySavings is our partner not only in DepEd Central Office because we have many partnership engagements with our regional, schools divisions and even schools directly getting the assistance and various donated items from CitySavings),” shared Education Undersecretary Tonisito Umali, Esq.

CitySavings also introduced new teacher up-skilling programs as part of the Bank’s commitment to creating a better, safer, and more sustainable learning and teaching environment.

The Bank focused on webinars covering relevant topics, starting with its core financial literacy and wealth management program Project Peraparasyon, mental wellness program Project Better Me, and capability training programs to provide tools and upgrade educators’ online teaching skills through Project Agile: Learning Series for Teachers, and HEROES 2021 (Help Educators Rise to Online Education SY 2020-2021).

“Advocating for quality education has always been a priority of CitySavings and we are honored to be one of the partners of DepEd. Through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of CitySavings, we can provide support and training resources to help our teachers navigate the new way of teaching and learning,” mentioned President and CEO Lorenzo Ocampo.
