Cebu’s First Phase of Vaccination Successful

The COVID-19 vaccination in Cebu started yesterday, March 4, at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

Presidential spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque was present during the vaccination along with other officials from different government agencies.

Department of Health (DOH)-7 Spokesperson Dr. Mary Jane Loreche was among the health workers and frontliners who have been vaccinated yesterday.

Meanwhile, VSMMC medical chief Dr. Gerardo Aquino, who also took the vaccine yesterday, disclosed that there are 1,245 VSMMC workers willing to be vaccinated.

50 to 70 health workers were successfully vaccinated yesterday during the vaccination launch but they will do their best to hit the target of 400-500 health workers to be vaccinated each day.

After all registered health workers in VSMMC have been vaccinated, health workers from private hospitals and barangay health workers will be vaccinated as well.

Meanwhile, around 9,000 Sinovac vaccine arrived early this morning in Cebu for a more successful and faster vaccination. (MLC)
