Survey: Two-Thirds of Companies in PH to Provide COVID-19 Vaccine For Workers

65 percent or around two-thirds of Philippine employers and companies are to provide coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines for their workers, according to a joint survey of Willis Towers Watsons and the Philippine Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP).

250 Human Resources (HR) practitioners participated in the survey, with 65 percent saying that their companies are in the process of procuring COVID-19 vaccines, or already have purchased vaccines for their employees.

58 percent of the employers that have not procured vaccines said they are mulling purchasing COVID-19 vaccines.

The remaining 42 percent do not have plans to purchase vaccine for their workers.

Vaccines for dependents

Around 60 percent of companies who said they intend to provide vaccines for their workers say that they also intend to procure vaccines for their workers’ dependents.

Of the 60 percent, over half indicated that the vaccines for dependents will include spouses, parents, and children of employees. another 40 percent also mulls the procurement of vaccines for the parents of married workers, along with the sibling of single employees, and all that are residents of the same household of their workers.

68 percent of employers who said they will purchase vaccines for their employees say that there will shoulder the expenses for the vaccines, meaning it will be available for their workers for free, while a small number of companies amounting to 11 percent of respondents say that they are not capable of paying the full cost of vaccines, but they will subsidize the cost.

another 7 percent say that finance allocations for their vaccination program will be limited to a certain segment of the total workforce of their company. (GFB)
