Talisay City Mayor Tests Positive For COVID-19

Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas announced on his official Facebook page that he tested positive for COVID-19.

“I’m sad to inform all of you that I have been confirmed to be positive of COVID-19. Yesterday, I experienced symptoms of COVID-19 such as sore throat, body aches and cough. Due to the concerns that I may have the disease, I asked our city health officials to have me swabbed,” wrote Gullas on his Facebook page.

Since Tuesday, Gullas said he separated himself to his family who are also currently under isolation.

However, the Mayor assured that despite his absence, the people of the Talisay City Hall will still perform their duties to serve the people of Talisay especially in these trying times.

Gullas is now the 5th Mayor in Cebu province who tested positive for COVID-19. Other mayors were Marlon Garcia of Barili, Sun Shimura of Daanbantayan, Danny Diamante of Tuburan and Junard “Ahong” Chan of Lapu-Lapu City.

Of the mentioned mayors, Mayor Garcia passed away recently due to complications brought by the disease, while the rest have recovered successfully. (MLC)
