Toyoflex Cebu Foundation Owner Takashi Tanaka sent Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama a letter expressing his delight as the Mayor accepted his P50 million donation for the Cebu City Public Library.

This good news was announced by the Mayor during his daily press conference Wednesday following  his one-week trip from Fukuoka, Japan, to attend a deal for the South Road Properties (SRP).

The P50 Million donation for the city’s public library will include the foundation of the building, computers, books and other equipment needed for the said project.

Looking back, Takashi Tanaka was among the recipients of award given by Mayor Rama during the Charter Day Celebration for his generosity to the public schools in Cebu City by donating various science equipment. Tanaka and Mayor Rama have been friends since Mayor Mike was then a City Councilor.

Tanaka also provided scholarship programs and Japanese lessons to nursing students of Cebu City Medical Center(CCMC).

Tanaka will be coming back in Cebu in the middle of September to meet Mayor Rama to discuss about this proposal for Cebu City.

In his letter to the mayor, Mr. Tanaka wrote “A friend for life and a real pure politician whom I respect from the bottom of my heart.” (Ann Margaret Ylanan – UV Masscom Intern)
