Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Now 50% Complete

Published

The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway construction is at 50% completed, according to ACCIONA.

The P19-B Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway constructed by Cebu Link Joint Venture (CLJV), the consortium of ACCIONA, First Balfour Inc., and DM Consunji Inc. will become the longest cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines.

The express link will help decongest the traffic on both Mactan bridges, which was a problem for motorists and commuters in the past years.

“The expressway will alleviate traffic congestion on the existing bridges and provide a faster connection between Cebu’s industrial zone, Mactan International Airport, and Cordova’s new urban developments, which will further boost the local economy,” Ruben Camba, Country Manager for the Philippines and Southeast Asia, said.

The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway is expected to be completed in 2021.

Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, awarded the project to the joint venture led by Spanish firm ACCIONA in 2017 to design and construct the 650-meter cable-stayed bridge as the principal
structure, with a span of 390 meters between tower pylons. The project includes several viaducts as well as a section of the highway on a 5.2-kilometer length embankment. (ASC)
