ALA Promotion Bids Farewell After 35 Years
ALA Promotion announced its closure after 35 years since it first opened their gyms for aspiring boxers in the Philippines.
In a press release, the Cebu-based boxing promotion has decided to bid farewell due to the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, and the shutting down of the TV and radio operations of their broadcast partner ABS-CBN.
The promotion also said that they plan to release all of their fighters to allow them to transfer to other promotions.
“All our fighters will be released so they can look for greener pastures for their respective careers,” ALA Boxing said in a press release.
ALA Boxing is known for its VISMIN grassroots program for aspiring boxers. It has produced champion-caliber fighters such as Ray “BoomBoom” Bautista, Z “The Dream” Gorres, AJ “Bazooka” Banal, Donnie “Ahas” Nietes among others.
As they close their doors to the public, ALA Boxing thanked their supporters who have been with them over the years.
“ALA Boxing would not be where it is today without the tremendous support of the Boxers, Trainers, Office Staff, Fans, the Media, the Boxing Organizations, and our sponsors all these years,” ALA Boxing said.
Meanwhile, the ALA Boxing and Fitness Gym—a separate business entity from ALA Promotions will continue its operations.
ALA Boxing and Fitness Gym has branches in Banilad Town Center in Cebu City, Bonifacio District in Cebu City, Pueblo Verde in Lapu-Lapu City, and Balete Drive in Quezon City. (ASC)
